ART EDUCATION: Bachelor of fine arts in design from the Chinese Culture University, Taiwan. From 2007 to 2009, I studied the foundations of drawing and painting with the artist Yimaukun. In the fall of 2009, I came to the United States to continue my studies. Currently I am pursuing
a master of fine arts in figurative painting at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.

STYLE: When I paint, I am not seeking to present a particular style; I just want to paint something that expresses my feelings and emotions.

Gazes, oil, 36 x 24.

INSPIRATION FOR YOUR WINNING PAINTING: I try to compose my paintings by combining gestures from figures with their surroundings in a harmonious and balanced way to show that beauty is everywhere. I enjoy observing people and their daily lives. One morning I was walking around the street where I live, and I saw a beautiful image of a man with his bicycle. Then a girl passed by me. The scene of the two people was just like a spot in a classic movie. It touched my heart and made me want to paint it right away.

CREATIVE SPARK: I am often inspired by daily life and want to share my experiences. Most of my ideas for paintings come from observing situations and environments around me.

SECOND-CHOICE CAREER: A career in teaching art.

BEST ADVICE RECEIVED: Never give up!

ONE THING MOST PEOPLE DON’T KNOW ABOUT YOU: I was an art teacher in Taiwan.

BIGGEST FEAR: Losing my creative spark.

PET PEEVE: Being interrupted while I am painting.

FUTURE GOALS: To travel and paint around the world.
