Meet the winners of our second annual 21 Over 31 competition. Culled from a pool of nearly 3,000 entries, these are the paintings that came out on top. There were many deserving entries—and some tough choices to make.
The winning artists hail from all parts of the country; they range in age from 31 to 64; and their genres include figurative, landscape, and still-life works. We think you’ll find the variety of their subject matter intriguing—the streets of San Francisco, sandhill cranes, sunsets, and skeletons, as well as horses, eggs, and a Volkswagen bus. Learn more about the winning pieces and their creators in the following links.

The editors of Southwest Art spent many hours huddled around the computer, judging the nearly 3,000 entries in our second annual 21 Over 31 emerging artists competition. We had to make hard decisions to choose the final prize winners, and we’d like you to meet some of the artists whose entries were finalists in this year’s competition.
