From: California.
Art Education: I have gone to art classes since I was 6 or so. I began academic training at 13, taking classes and workshops at the Bay Area Classical Artist Atelier, College of San Mateo, and Florence Academy of Art U.S. I am currently working on my BFA in drawing and painting at Laguna College of Art & Design.
Style: Representational figurative.
Creative Spark: Looking at art, reading books, seeing, and thinking. Automatic drawing is an important part of my ideation process. I am trying to access more subconscious imagery and not over-intellectualize things.
Second-Choice Career: Teaching.
Best Advice Received: My first art professor, in response to my distress over how to make a career as an artist, assured me, “If you have to be an artist, then you’ll figure it out.”
Biggest Fear: Going blind.
Favorite Studio Music: I love all sorts of folk, rock, and country, but I find that music can influence my mood too much, so I tend to listen more to audiobooks and podcasts.
Favorite Work by Another Artist: GHENT ALTARPIECE by Jan van Eyck and Hubert van Eyck.
Future Goals: I want to go to graduate school and study at more ateliers under individual artists. In the long term, I hope to have the resources to continue making meaningful work.
Price Range: $500 to $5,000.
